Needing transport in all weathers I soon yearned for the protection and relative comfort of a car. My first one was a Morris 1000 in the ubiquitous (for the model) Clarendon grey.

When it came to upgrading, like most young people I looked for a higher performance car and the cool model at the time was the Ford Mk I Cortina GT. Unable to find one at a sensible price I settled for a Corsair GT, with the same inline 1500GT engine, in Monaco red.

Working for Marconi at the time I joined the Marconi Auto Club, which was associated with the Chelmsford Motor Club, and took part in several club rallies and night trials, being placed second in one.

I never did get to own a Ford MkI Cortina GT, but had at different times two MkII Cortina 1600E's

Several cars later I was persuaded to buy a BMW 323i and have been an enthusiast ever since.

More recently I've owned a 528i (thirsty, but stuck to the road like glue), a 325i and currently a 330i.
