Railways

I confess to being one of those with an interest in railways in general and steam trains in particular.

Some of the steam locomotives awaiting dismantling for scrap at Barry Island, S. Wales

A few locomotives were rescued and renovated by preservation groups

Quainton Road station, north of Aylesbury on the former Metropolitan Railway line.

The line between Aylesbury and Bletchley via Verney Junction has been closed to passenger traffic for many years and the DMU shuttle from Aylesbury gave a rare opportunity for the public to travel part of the line. The old sidings are now home to a preservation society.

Steam train rides at Quainton Road 2006

Chain driven locomotive once used on the Brill tramway

The Royal Scot at Bressingham

Severn Valley Railway - Bewdley Station

Semaphore signals at Whyteleafe on the East Croydon to Caterham line

Snowdon Mountain Railway

For more information on old railways, please see the Disused Station In The UK website.
